Welcome to Salt Fat Acid House, a digest of all things edible from the electronic music world.

Expect restaurant recommendations, recipes and life-changing meals, with a DJ and/or dance producer as the focus on each mailer.

Why this combination of topics? It struck me that, aside from incredibly rich people (who often, let’s be honest, don’t have that good taste), DJs are some of the people who’ve eaten the most far and wide, and in some of the best spots in the world. Crucially, they do – mostlyhave good taste. As a sometime-music writer I’ve been lucky enough to join them on some of these, whether it’s for an interview or a pre- or post-set meal.

I also think that people who seek out great music for a living probably seek out other great things in their lives, whether that’s in fashion, film or, of course, food. When you’ve danced in some of the best clubs in the world, you might want to replicate that feeling in another field – say, in what you put in your mouth?

So, this newsletter is a way of me selfishly getting some recipe and restaurant recommendations – but it’s quite nice to have an excuse to talk to musicians about something aside from music (there will be some music chat, though!)

Finally, please enjoy some rejected (but very much considered) names for this Substack:

Higher Plate Of Consciousness
Chef Mills (The Bell Peppers)
Call Supper
Almond Van Helden
